Trade Unions and the Future of Work in the V4 Region
About the project
The project is co-financed by the governments of Czechia, Hungary, Poland and Slovakia through Visegrad Grants from the International Visegrad Fund. The mission of the fund is to advance ideas for sustainable regional cooperation in Central Europe.
The project Trade Unions and the Future of Work in the V4 Region brings together trade union confederations from Slovakia, Czechia, Poland and Hungary to create a space for joint discussion on the future of work and to strengthen regional cooperation and social dialogue.
Digitalisation, the green transition, demographic change, labour shortages and workforce ageing are creating new challenges for labour markets across the V4 countries. The project will enable trade union organisations to exchange experience, discuss shared challenges and explore approaches that can contribute to a fair and socially sustainable transformation of the world of work.
What we aim to achieve
The project aims to:
- strengthen regional dialogue among V4 trade union confederations on shared future-of-work challenges,
- enhance the exchange of expertise and policy perspectives on labour market transformations and their social implications,
- reinforce long-term cooperation and coordination among trade union confederations across the V4 region.

Main event
V4 Trade Union Meeting on the Future of Work
2–4 November 2026 | Svidník, Slovakia
The key project activity will be a two-day meeting of representatives of trade union confederations from the V4 countries. It will provide a space for exchanging experience and discussing major transformations affecting the world of work across our region.
The discussions will focus in particular on digitalisation and technological change, the green transition, demographic change and workforce ageing, labour shortages, collective bargaining and the future of social dialogue.
